Today I want to share with you my 5x5 card featuring butterflies cut with Stampin'Up!'s exclusive Butterflly Die. My card base is Kraft and my Specialty DSP layer is Parisian Breeze in two different patterns. Baja Breeze Striped Ribbon was added to the side strip by using the Horizontal Slot Punch to punch two slots so the ribbon could be attached to the back. I actually "cheat" and do not run my ribbon all the say accross the back. I figure why waste what you cannot see!! Two of the shorter penants from the Stampin'Up!'s exclusive Penant Die were cut from Baja Breeze and Kraft. The scalloped edge was trimmed away from the Baja Breeze layer and then embossed with an embossing template in the Big Shot. This penant was layered and placed over the DSP cardf front. My butterflies were cut on the Big Shot with the Butterfly Die. I love that this die has 4 different butterflies to use. You can cut each one individually from different colored cardstock to get a similar effect to what I did, or you can use one square of the same color and cut all 4 butterflies at one time!! To give the butterfly a "body" I used the small beads from Siver Duo bead set. You can use different mediums to glue beads on, but these were adhered with Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive. I have found that I really like the way this adhesive grabs what you want to adhere.
This butterfly was mounted on a flower punched from the 5-Petal Punch with a 5/16" Chocolate Chip brad added to the center.
Place your butterfly and flower on your penant layers and you are almost done. I used the congratulations stamp from "Eight Great Greetings" for my greeting. I stamped the image on Whisper White with Baja Breeze and added a small silver grommet from the Occasions Mini Catalog to add a bit of interest. This image was punched with a circle punch (cant' remember at the moment which one) and was placed on a piece of Kraft that was punched with the Scallop Square Punch.
Whew!! That sounded like a lot, but really it was a very easy card to put together.
I hope you enjoyed my version of the Butterfly Die and another idea for Eight Great Greetings found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.
Tomorrow I will share with you another Dad card using the dad greeting in this same stamp set. Don't you just love multiple ideas on how to use a same stamp set again and again?
See you tomorrow and have a great day! Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment. Look for another blog candy special coming in the next week or so!!
